Hindu funeral

In a Hindu funeral, the body is cared for and prayers, mantras, and rituals are performed. Traditionally, the body is cremated, and the ashes are often scattered in flowing water.

Afterward, there is a period of mourning with various rituals. The exact customs differ depending on the family and tradition.

Hindus believe that the atman (soul) continues after death. The ultimate goal is moksha, or liberation from the cycle of birth and rebirth.
