Alina dressed in Sarongs
The Indonesian and Malay word sarong (or sarung) means “covering” or “wrap.”
A sarong is a large piece of fabric that is traditionally wrapped around the waist and worn by both men and women.
Traditionally, sarongs often feature woven plaid or checked patterns, although they may also be brightly colored or decorated with vibrant designs. In modern fashion and beachwear, the term sarong is used more broadly to describe any lightweight wrap worn over swimwear.
In short: every traditional sarong is a wrap, but not every wrap is a sarong.
