Floating Market
At the floating markets in the Mekong Delta, you will see both traditional and modern boats.
Large flat-bottomed boats (ghe bầu): wholesale boats loaded with fruit and vegetables.
A sample of the cargo is displayed on a bamboo pole.
Small rowboats and motorboats: used for selling and transporting smaller quantities of goods.
Local boats: wooden boats with outboard motors used for daily travel between villages, stilt houses, and the market.
Tourist and food boats: offer boat tours and serve breakfast, Vietnamese coffee, pho, hủ tiếu, and fresh fruit.
Supply boats: transport essentials such as fuel, ice, fish, and building materials.
